NIGC Recommends Specifications for Surveillance
Washington, DC March 22, 2007 — The National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) has issued an advisory Bulletin with the objective to identify accepted gaming industry standards for digital surveillance systems. Guidelines are being offered for management and Tribal gaming regulatory authorities to consider as appropriate.
Chairman Hogen stated "For some time now digital technology has been replacing analog systems and information in this Bulletin will give guidance to Tribes selecting these new systems and insure that the clarity, storage and ability to retrieve images of the gaming activity will be of the quality necessary to insure integrity in the gaming operations."
Due to the natural vulnerability of cash intensive businesses, particularly gaming, the NIGC has set out recommended minimum technical specifications to digital surveillance systems.
