NIGC to Publish Training Catalogue

Washington DC, October 23, 2007 — The National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) has published a training catalogue that provides detailed information on numerous training courses available to tribal leaders, gaming commissions, regulatory and compliance officials and other interested parties.

With the passage of Public Law 109-221 during the 109th Congress, the NIGC is required to provide technical assistance and training to tribal gaming operations.

NIGC Vice-Chairman Chuck Choney said, “Indian gaming has become a significant economic factor throughout Indian country. With frequent changes in technology, regulatory and compliance issues, we feel there is a need to make available on an as requested basis all forms of technical assistance and training.” Choney continued, “The training will be presented by NIGC staff and other qualified individuals.”

Copies of the training catalogue will be made available to tribal leaders, tribal gaming commissions and other interested parties by the middle of November.

General training topics will be divided by NIGC Divisions:  Enforcement, Audits, Contracts, and the Office of General Counsel. Tribal leaders, gaming commission members, and other recipients of this catalog wishing to request training may contact the appropriate Regional Director. Details regarding the topics to be taught, the time, date and location and number of anticipated persons expected to attend will be coordinated directly with the Regional Directors.
