NIGC Initiates Technical Assistance and Training Survey
Washington, DC January 13, 2011 — Today National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC or Commission) Chairwoman Tracie Stevens announced the launch of a tribal survey to receive input on ways to enhance NIGC training and technical assistance available to tribes. The survey is another mechanism this Commission is utilizing to hear directly from tribal governments and regulators as it provides training tailored to industry needs. This is the first time NIGC has reached out to tribes in this format to gain valuable input on its training and technical assistance services.
“Tribal input is a key component of our continuous evaluation and refinement of NIGC training and technical assistance”, Chairwoman Stevens stated. “From my own experience, I know that accurate and timely training helps to maintain the integrity and success of Indian gaming.”
The survey was sent to all tribal leaders, tribal gaming commissioners and tribal gaming operators. Completing the survey should take no more than 10 minutes. The survey includes detailed instructions for either completing the survey on-line or printing the survey and returning it to the NIGC.
Chairwoman Stevens reiterated that “Training and technical assistance is a top priority for the Commission. We are fully committed to ensuring that our technical assistance and training activities continue to serve as a valuable tool for the regulated community.”
