NIGC Selects Technical Standards/MICS Tribal Advisory Committee Members

Washington, DC, October 6, 2011 – The National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC or Commission) announced today the selection of representatives to serve on a Tribal Advisory Committee (TAC) to assist the Commission’s review of the Technical Standards and Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS). The Tribal Advisory Committee members include:

Jason Ramos, Gaming Commission Chairman, Blue Lake Rancheria
Daniel K. McGhee, Gaming Commission Administrator, Poarch Band of Creek Indians
Brian Callaghan, Gaming Commission Executive Director, Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians
Christina Thomas, Office of Gaming Regulation and Compliance Executive Director, Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe
Steve Garvin, Gaming Commissioner, Ho-Chunk Nation
Jeff Wheatley, Director of Gaming, Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians
Michele Stacona, Gaming Commission Executive Director, The Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon

“The Commission received 55 nominations from tribal governments. From those nominees we selected a diverse group of tribal government representatives whose combined expertise will assist the Commission as it continues to review the MICS and Technical Standards,” explained Chairwoman Tracie Stevens. She added, “This group of tribal representatives will assist the Commission so that the regulations continue to protect Indian gaming and ensure that tribes are the primary beneficiaries of their operations.”
 
NIGC anticipates that the TAC will complete its work by March 31, 2012 and is committed to working diligently with the members of the TAC and others to complete a final rule in 2012.
